Bound to happen?

Tonight, one of my biggest fears came true - I dropped a CI in the bathtub. :(

I usually let Sophie wear them for the first few minutes of her bath so she can hear the water running and have fun splashing. She always does a pretty good job at keeping her head dry - this one was totally my fault. As I was slipping her headband and CIs off tonight, I dropped one straight into the water. Kerplunnnkkkk. Nice.

I dried it off and literally sprinted to put it in the dry-store container, so I'm sure it will be fine. The N5s are water-resistant, at least. Here's to hoping for a functional ear tomorrow!

  1. Yikes, but I bet it still works.I've heard a few similar stories and they all turned out fine. Good luck! We are in the process of potty training and I feel like it's just a matter of time before one falls in the toilet!

  2. Ugh! I can imagine the dreadful feeling! I'm sure it will be fine though after a night in the dry n store!

  3. Oh goodness. Our AVT told us the last Cochlear convention she went to, they walked in and the CIs were in a glass submerged in water and they still worked. I'm sure they will be fine!

  4. Our son waded a bit too far into the Pacific Ocean last summer and got tossed by a wave. Even without the dry-store container, which we hadn't thought to bring to the beach with us, his N5 was fine.

  5. Lily wears her CIs during the entire bath (except for hair washing of course). She's worn them with the headband, without, and now with ear molds. We have dropped them in the tub before, put it back on, and put it in the dry-n-store for the night. Everything has been fine so far. I'm sure Sophie's will be fine too. :)

  6. Better than my husband who had to grab Thomas' CI out of the toilet -- yep, it was after Thomas used it -- yuck!

  7. Aiden's dropped his Nucleus Freedom in the lake. Completely submerged. I dried it all off, continued having fun, put it in the dry and store when we got home, and it was fine. scary, although a little less scary when they're under warranty still!
